Hicaps

After a successful career as a Home Economics and Health Education high school teacher, Kate discovered the age-old practice of traditional Chinese medicine which aims to utilise the body's innate ability to heal itself. Eastern medicine provided an alternative perspective on health, one quite different to the concepts of western bio-medicine Kate had previously studied. This compelled her to return to tertiary education to study traditional Chinese medicine with the aim to integrate both perspectives intuitively to help others.

Kate's aim is to provide high-quality treatment outcomes and therapeutic support to elicit a holistic healing response for each individual.'

As part of her personalised treatment plans, Kate uses the traditional style of Chinese acupuncture combined with herbal medicine and lifestyle advice. With an extensive background in nutrition, Kate places a strong emphasis on whole foods to nourish the body in conjunction with the principles of Chinese dietetics. Techniques such as heat therapy, cupping, gua sha and tui na massage may be incorporated depending on the client's condition.

Kate treats conditions such as:

• Women's health issues including endometriosis, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), and infertility

• Digestive imbalances

• Colds, influenza, hay fever and allergies

• Musculoskeletal injuries

• Auto-immune diseases.

Pyscho-emotional disorders such as stress, insomnia, eating disorders, and anxiety are an area of interest. Acupuncture is known to have calming effects on the central nervous system restoring balance between the mind, body and spirit. Kate treats these conditions with a great deal of empathy combined with a strong caring attitude to enhance the healing process for the client.

Furthermore, Kate wishes to work with teenage girls and young women who have dysmenorrhoea (painful periods) to assist them to manage their condition naturally in order to minimise pain.

In her spare time, you will find Kate practicing Jivamukti yoga, being creative and immersed in the Arts, and connecting with others in her community.
